I looked up my good friend Katie and spent a good amount of time with her in Creedmoor, NC. One day she got her hair cut and it curled up like Donna Reed’s. That was a fun summer. "Donna Reed" is a song I wrote at her house pretty much on the spot. It’s an instrumental tune, so it didn’t require as much coordination as my usual songs. The song captures the carefreeness I felt that summer. Things got much more complicated that Autumn. On "Building a Hole," things are much simpler in that respect.
