“Another Day in Paradise” was written around March of 2003. I was in the thick of changing my mindset and lifestyle. On one hand, the song can be viewed as a simple, optimistic statement. On the other hand, it seems a bit sarcastic in a way. I think songs are good when you can read them any different number of ways. One morning, I woke up with an unbelievable sense of clarity. I guess not drinking every night can afford that opportunity sometimes. I set up a loop and played some chords. You can hear the demo I did in my downloads section. This demo is the raw version of the song as it developed in my head. I guess what inspired this song was the fact that I was happy again and on my own terms. I find myself thinking of the person I was eight-weeks before I wrote this song when I sing “I wish that you were here,” where I am now.
